2013 Europe Ski Tour Itinerary

 


 

START THE 2013 GROUP SKI TOUR IN FRANCE

Choose the length of your ski tour.  Ski the entire three weeks, each week in a different country, or choose either the first two weeks or the last two weeks.  If that is still not enough skiing for you, why don't you add on an extra week at the end and pop over to Canada for a further week of awesome skiing or boarding.

 

Ski Morzine-Avoriaz, Lech-St Anton, Val Gardena
The 3 week, 3 countries, 2013 group ski tour will commence in Geneva (Switzerland) with one night pre tour accomodation on 4/1/2013, where you spend the first day relaxing, getting over your flight, adjusting to the new time zone and meeting your new travelling companions on this meet and greet night.

Week 1: 5 Jan 2013.  After a leisurely breakfast, a late morning departure for the short 2 hour transfer to Morzine - Avoriaz. Here you will stay at the cosy family run Hotel le Sporting and enjoy traditional French hospitality and fine cuisine.  You will have a 6 day Porte du Soleil ski pass allowing you to ski or board in all of the 12 ski villages (8 French and 4 Swiss) in this vast ski area.  At the end of each day, relax in the heated indoor / outdoor swimming pool, or take a short walk to the centre of town for some apres ski fun.  Don't forget to see the mid week ski show where the skills of the ski and board instructors ore on display - and of course, the rough & tumble of the ice hockey.

Week 2: 12 Jan 2013.  An early morning departure on your chartered coach to the Austrian Alps to the resorts of Lech, Zurs, St Anton. You will stay in the excellent Hotel Sandhof, which is across the road from the 

Oberlech lift and convenient to the centre of this bustling village where there is something always going on.

You ski pass grants you access to all 6 ski areas where you can ski the meticulously groomed pistes or challenge yourself on some of the best off piste slopes in Austria.

Many local guides are available to assist you in this and past skiers on our group ski tours have commented that this has been some of the best skiing they have ever had....or quench your thirst in one of the famous outdoor ice bars.
 
Week 3: 19 Jan 2013  Those doing the first two weeks of the ski tour will be transferred to Zurich for their ongoing travel arrangments. For the rest of the group ... it's off again on your chartered coach into the magnificent scenery of the Dolomites.
We will travel right into the heart of this vast ski area to Val Gardena, and stay at the conveniently located Hotel Olympia, in the centre of town and just a short walk to the lifts. Here, set yourself a challenge - see how many of the 1200 kms of groomed ski pistes, or the 450 lifts in the 12 skiing areas you can cover in the week you will be here.... or how many nightclubs and bars suit your style of apres ski relaxation... or just unwind in the magnificent ambience of the traditional and cosy family style hotel.

Saturday 26 Jan 2013, at the end of the tour, our chartered coach will take you to Milan airport for your ongoing travel.

Two week tour options

Should you wish a two week ski tour only, then select either the first two or last two weeks.
 
Two week early - Morzine-Avoriaz / Lech (4 Jan to 19 Jan 2013).Same as the first two weeks as described above, however, on 19 Jan 2013, you will have a coach transfer to Zurich airport for your ongoing travel.
Two week late - Lech / Val Gardena (11 Jan to 26 Jan 2013). You will begin your tour on 11 Jan 2013 at Zurich for one night pre tour accommodation to get used to the new time zone. Next morning, on 12 Jan 2013, you will be transferred by coach to Lech to join the rest of the group. The rest of you itinerary is as above from 12 Jan onwards.
 

Canada week option

Want more skiing?  Then add on a week in Big White Ski Resort, Canada.
Combine this with Europe ski tour or join us for a Canada ski week. From Europe, the suggested air routing is - on 26 Jan 2013, overnight in Milan for an early morning flight on 27 Jan to Kelowna, arriving in the evening of the same day. A pre booked shuttle transfer to Big White for 6 nights accommodation at Chateau Big White, one of the better ski in / ski out locations and 5 days skiing. On 2 Feb 2013, shuttle transfer back to Kelowna for the return flight to Australia.

Europe Ski Tour Hotels


Hotel Le Sporting, Morzine
This family run hotel, located in Morzine, is a delight to stay at.  From the comfortable rooms, heated indoor / outdoor pool, excellent provincial French cuisine, intimate bar area, your stay here will be relaxed and enjoyable.

Begin the day with a nourishing and substantial breakfast and finish it off with an exquisite 5 course dinner.  Ski hire is no problem with the nearest shop only 50 m away, and it is just a short walk to town centre.  It is possible to ski back near to the front door from the Morzine ski fields.

 The town shuttle bus stop is only 20 m away

Hotel Sandhof, Lech
This hotel has all the attributes to make your stay unforgettable. From the new spa and beauty facilities where you can relax  in the sauna, or the Turkish steam baths.... ready to set yourself up for the next day in the mountain .... to the wonderful range of culinary delights. Enjoy the extensive breakfast buffet in the mornings and a 5-course evening meal (choice of main course) with salad bar and cheese board. Once a week there is a romantic Fondue Bourguignonne and also once a week an Austrian evening with live music. The family owners will delight you with Austrian and regional specialities. Their delicious menu is rounded off by home-grown products, vegetarian meals and - of course - a variety of international specialities.

Hotel Olympia, Val Gardena

This cosy and comfortable 3 star family run hotel is in a central and sunny location, next to the ski school and only 150 m from the Ciampinoi ski lift. The hotel has its own bar, sun terrace,  excellent international cuisine, private parking, as well as sauna, solarium and jacuzzi which are available for offer of the house.

All rooms have private bath / shower, toilet, safe, telephone, colour TV (satellite) and balcony. Whilst it is a short walk to the nearest lift, you can virtually ski back to the front door at days end.

 

Canada Option

The Chateau Big White is ideally situated in the heart of the resort with views of the village or ski slopes.
